Makapuu Lighthouse Trail This is the view from roughly half way up the hike while you are still facing west. The large crater on the right is Koko Head Crater, which used to be open for hiking but closed a few years ago for safety purposes. There is a steel platform at the top of crater with a bottle full of notes left behind by visitors to the summit over the years. At the bottom of crater is the Hawaii Kai golf course. At the ocean side base of the crater are numerous lookout points, including Blow Hole, and Sandy Beach.
