Beach at Sharks Cove: During the winter months, the normally placid Sharks Cove near Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu is rough. During the calm summer months this beach is great for snorkeling. This picture was taken in December. During the summer, this exact same beach is very calm. Off the picture to the left is a large calm tidepool that is great for beginner snorkelers. During the winter, large waves pound the rocks at the left edge this picture, sending sea spray 30-40 feet into the air.
