Teriyaki Beef Sticks

Teriyaki Beef SticksVersatile teriyaki beef. Delicious, easy to make and goes with just about everything- On a plate lunch, alongside saimin noodles, and great for potlucks. Cook you up a bunch of ononess (deliciousness) on a stick and watch them disappear.


3/4 cup Kikkoman or Aloha Shoyu (soy sauce)

1/4 cup water

3/4 cup firm packed light brown sugar

1 Tbs mirin (Japanese cooking wine)

2 cloves garlic halved lengthwise

1 1inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and cut into 4 coin sized pieces

2 1/2 lbs. thin sliced chuck- trimmed of fatty bits

20 wooden skewers soaked in water at least 30 minutes


In a medium bowl combine all ingredients except beef. Stir until sugar is dissolved, then add in meat. Cover and let marinate in refrigerator 2-3 hours turning meat every hour. Discard marinade and thread pieces onto wooden skewers then grill 1-2 minutes per side. Yields 18-20

*Limited room in the fridge? Put it all in a gallon sized ziplock bag, remove as much air as possible, and you won't have to turn the meat over.
