However, if you’re heading somewhere warmer during the summer, be prepared by packing light — literally. Light colors and light fabrics should dominate your suitcase. Of course, if you’ll be attending a luau or other special event, you’ll want to make sure your suitcase includes a dress or a Hawaiian shirt as necessary. Be sure to pack a pair of durable sandals while you’re at it and don’t forget your sunglasses.

Weekend Trip
If your vacation time is limited, a weekend trip might be just what you need to quickly recharge your batteries. Visiting a new city or hopping a plane for a quick getaway can be a great adventure. If you’re driving to your weekend getaway, turn the ride itself into part of the fun by packing the car with plenty of snacks, your favorite drinks and maybe even a picnic to enjoy along the way.
Your list of things to pack for a weekend trip should include a few basic outfits and comfortable shoes if you plan to spend your weekend exploring. A pair of sunglasses and a strong sense of adventure should also be on your list. If you’re flying to your destination, limit yourself to only what will fit in a carry-on bag, that way you won’t have to pay for checked luggage or waste time waiting at the baggage claim.

Beach Vacation
Summer travelers overwhelmingly choose destinations with beaches. If you’re planning to spend your summer vacation playing in the sand, it’s important to come prepared. For trips that are heavy on the sun and surf, make sure you pack at least two swimsuits so you can wear one while the other is drying in the hotel. You’ll also want to pack sunscreen, a coverup and maybe even a hat.
This is also a great time to dust off your favorite pair of oversized sunglasses. Depending on where you’re going, you may also need to bring your own towel. Check with the hotel ahead of time to see if they have ones you can borrow or if you’ll need to pack one. For the ladies, a lightweight Hawaiian sundress should also be part of your luggage. Sundresses take up little space and can be worn out exploring or to a nice dinner.
